  • Vertex Screen Snapping —  True vertex snapping effect

  • Shadow Controls — Low Resolution Shadows mode and full shadow disabling
  • Render Presets — Quick PSX resolution presets, color depth options, AA toggle, and shadow toggle

Compatibility:

  • Blender 4.3+
  • Tested on Windows & macOS
  • Requires: Pillow, NumPy

Install:

  1. Download psx_addon.zip
  2. In Blender: Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Install
  3. Enable 'PSX Retro Tools' from the list

In Blender:

  1. Install Pillow (only needs to be done once):
    • Open Blender.
    • Go to Edit → Preferences → System → Open Console (or open a terminal/command prompt).
    • Run:
      pip install Pillow
      If that doesn’t work, try:
      python -m pip install Pillow
(Use Blender’s bundled Python if needed:
      "<path-to-blender>/4.3/python/bin/python.exe" -m pip install Pillow)
  2. Restart Blender after installation.

    NEW UPDATE!

    • Download psx_tools_dependency_installer.py.
    • In Blender: Edit → Preferences → Add-ons → Install…, select the file, click Install Add-on.
    • Search for PSX Tools — Dependency Installer and enable it.
    • In 3D View, press NPSX Retro tab → Dependencies panel.
    • Check status:
      • ✅ OK — installed.
      • ❌ Not installed — missing.
    • Click Install NumPy, Install Pillow, or Install/Update All.
    • Wait until the log says finished and a popup asks to restart Blender.
    • Restart Blender.
    • Enable PSX Retro Tools in Add-ons.

Tips & Notes:

  • After generating a texture, you can enhance it in Texture Paint and then apply dithering for a stylized look
  • Baking works correctly only with a single texture atlas
  • If the object uses multiple materials or images, the result may be incorrect
  • The texture size selected in the generator also determines the baked texture size

Roadmap:

  • Texture preview directly in the add-on panel
  • Export baked textures to PNG in one click
